The Helambu Trek is a 7-day easy-grade short trek through the Helambu valley, homeland of the Hyolmo (Helambu Sherpa) people, located just 70km north of Kathmandu. The trek begins with a short drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, then climbs through Shivapuri National Park to the Hyolmo villages of Kutumsang, Tharepati, Tarkeghyang, and Sermathang. The maximum altitude of 3,650m at Tharepati is well within safe acclimatization limits for a 7-day trip. Helambu is known for its apple orchards, traditional Sherpa architecture, ancient monasteries, and the warm hospitality of the Hyolmo people. The trek is accessible year-round and offers an excellent short cultural immersion experience within easy reach of Kathmandu.
