Everest Region

The Everest Region, also known as the Khumbu in northeastern Nepal, is a world-famous destination dominated by Mount Everest and seven other of the world’s highest peaks. This dramatic landscape of towering mountains, massive glaciers, and turquoise lakes is protected within the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This area is the heartland of the resilient Sherpa people, whose vibrant Tibetan Buddhist culture is evident in the prayer flags, mani walls, and monasteries that dot the trails. The bustling town of Namche Bazaar is the region’s main hub, while the iconic Tengboche Monastery offers stunning spiritual and panoramic views.
