A challenging and rewarding 16-day adventure combining Gokyo Cho La Pass, and Everest Base Camp.
The Gokyo Chola Pass Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most scenic and technically engaging routes in the Everest region. This journey leads you through Gokyo Valley, across the high-altitude Cho La Pass, and onward to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. It is ideal for trekkers who want a more adventurous alternative to the traditional Everest Base Camp trail.
Gokyo lake Chola Pass and Everest Base Camp Trek Overview
This trek offers a complete Himalayan experience blending remote valleys, pristine turquoise lakes, dramatic glaciers, and iconic viewpoints. Beginning with a flight to Lukla, the trail gradually ascends through Sherpa villages including Phakding and Namche Bazaar. After sufficient acclimatization, the route diverts toward Dole and Machhermo, leading you to the breathtaking Gokyo Lakes.
A highlight of the trek is the climb to Gokyo Ri, which offers panoramic views of Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Makalu. The following morning, you continue to the fourth lake before crossing the spectacular Cho La Pass, a high glaciated saddle connecting Gokyo Valley with the Everest Base Camp trail.
From Dzongla and Lobuche, you continue to Gorakshep and visit Everest Base Camp, followed by an early morning hike to Kala Patthar for the best viewpoint of Mount Everest. The journey concludes with a scenic descent through Pheriche and Namche back to Lukla.
